Settlers Run hosts their first 'This is the life festival'
Saturday 29 March saw approximately 500 residents, guests and visitors treated to an afternoon of free activities including wine sampling, golf tutorials, children's entertainment, golf-cart tours, gourmet barbecue demonstrations and cool bluesy jazz, all against the backdrop of Settlers Run's stunning scenery.
Nathan Walshe, head chef at the Settlers Run Golf & Country Club, excited the tastebuds with his hugely popular barbecue demonstrations featuring cashmere rack of lamb, barramundi with bok choy and roast peppers in a soy and ginger sauce and a lightly smoked chicken salad.
Keeping with the gourmet theme, wine sampling from Stonier and Yarra Burn wineries provided the perfect accompaniment to the irresistible cheese tastings provided by the world-renowned King Island Dairy. Guests were also invited to explore the subtleties of olive oil through guided tastings - revealing aroma and flavour complexities to rival the mouth watering cheese and wines.
Possibly in an attempt to work off some of that food and wine, the tennis courts were also in constant use with some determined competition taking place. For those seeking a more sedate way to spend the afternoon, golf-buggy tours were extremely popular.
Since one of the true joys of community life is the shared enjoyment and celebration of good living, events such as our 'This is the Life Festival' are set to become popular and regular features on the Settlers Run calendar.
