Westwood announces Education Scholarship winners

Among the recipients is local Para Olympian, Jay Dohnt, who will represent Australia in swimming at the 2008 Para Olympic Games in Beijing later this year.

The Westwood Community Continuing Education Scholarship Program is in its second year and aims to assist people of all ages to improve their level of education. The Program has provided close to $20,000 to students and includes categories for primary and secondary school, TAFE and university students and for people with disabilities.

The Program is funded by the Westwood Urban Renewal Fund and was established by Urban Pacific Limited, Housing SA and the Port Adelaide Enfield Council. The Fund supports community and economic development within the Westwood community, incorporating the suburbs of Ferryden Park, Mansfield Park, Woodville Gardens, Angle Park and Athol Park.

Westwood set up the scholarship program to assist community members living in and around the Westwood community who require assistance with their education needs. In some cases, the cost of books and tuition is the only thing that stands in the way of people being able to achieve their individual potential.
